Registration for "Camp Death Mountain" Begins Today
Registration for Nintendo's hottest new camp begins today at 3:00 PM EST. The program called "Camp Death Mountain" is based on the success of the online "Camp Hyrule". "Camp Death Mountain" has been hyped up as the real life equivalent of "Camp Hyrule"
"Camp Death Mountain is for people who don't have access to computers. and thus can't participate in Camp Hyrule." stated an employee for the camp, "Camp Hyrule" is cool for nerds who would like to chat with people that they don't know. But it can sometime leave people wanting for more of a Zelda experience. However, at "Camp Death Mountain" it's a non stop battle of survival, fighting, overcoming obstacles, and of course eating horrible camp food.
The experience doesn't even start at camp. The whole experience starts while trying to find the camp. The road into the wilderness ends right at a sign, where the camper then has to cross 120 odd miles, over "Death Mountain" terrain by either the marked red or blue path. At arrival to the camp, the camper is checked by the nurse and, if in good health, is sent to his or her cabin.
"The main purpose of "Camp Death Mountain" is to allow campers to feel the "Link" experience with other campers. That involves running through rugged terrain, communicating with only grunts/screams and carrying packs filled with everything from arrows to blue potion. In fact, I think that the campers will feel so much like Link, few will feel the need to come back and do it again."
The camp organizers, however, have been receiving criticism over the harshness of the activities planned. As one inquirer asked, "Don't you think your overdoing it on the realisticness of the whole thing? I mean its cool to go through the same things that Link had to on Death Mountain, even up to dodging arrows. But wouldn't that make it less fun for the kids?"
"Who said it had to be fun?" replied the supervisor.
Registration ends September 1st.
