Review - By Darth Citrus
I personally didn't enjoy this one too much. However it does remain true to the Zelda spirit. Soon after the orginal one for Gameboy, Nintendo released the DX version for Gameboy Color, which in addition to an extra dungeon, greatly improved the look with color.
Now to the review:
Gameplay - Very easy to learn. Weapons are assigned to each button. Thus any item, including the sword could be assigned to either Aor B.
Graphics - Being the first Legend of Zelda game for the gameboy, it had excellent Gameboy graphics. However now a days, many people would be turned off by the older looking graphics. The DX version for Gameboy Color, greatly improves in this area.
Music/Sound - Music is great, though can get repeatitve at times. There are a few tracks that can get annoying after listening to it for hours in a dungeon. Other than that however, the music does a good job of utilizing the most of an 8 bit system.
Plotness - The plot of this story is, after Link finds himself stranded on a mysterious Island, he embarks on a journey to find the 8 instruments and wake the Wind Fish. Along the way he learns more about the islands orgin and the consquences of awaking the Wind Fish. Orginial and Zeldaish.
Difficulty - This is pretty much your standard Zelda difficulty. Meaning, if your new to Zelda, it would seem hard. If your not, then it seems easy. There aren't that many side quests to do though, and with the boomerang, the final boss becomes a joke.
Overall - For Nintendo's first game into the Gameboy world, it does a great job, at keeping the Zelda spirit. However for those who as never played Link's Awakening, I would advice that you skip over the original and go stright to the DX version. Thus Link's Awakening receives:
