Review - By Darth Citrus
After Nintendo's expierences with the "Adventure of Link", they returned to the traditional overview gameplay that has characterized the Zelda world. "A Link to the Past" was considered to be one of the best games for the SNES. The storyline, the gameplay, the music all blended together to form one of the best games of the series.
Now to the review:
Gameplay - Gameplay is very smooth in "A Link to the Past". Controls were easy to learn and use, allowing the player to focus more on the story, music and graphics.
Graphics - Again, one of the best of the day. Even with the re-release for GBA, graphics are still considered to be quite good.
Music/Sound - The music for "A Link to the Past" is amazing. From the smooth quiet tune of Kakariko Village, to the dark music of the Dark World, the music easily sets the mood for any location. The traditional Legend of Zelda tune also returned as the main overworld theme.
Plotness - With a much larger plot then former games, "A Link to the Past" orginally seems like a simple save the Princess game. Featuring over 11 main dungeons, you will soon realize that the plot is much more complex. "A Link to the Past" has an excellent and captivating storyline that will hook you from start to finish.
Difficulty - "A Link to the Past" is much easier than the "Legend of Zelda" and the "Adventure of Link" Storyline is much more structured, and finding ones way around dungeons is much easier. "A Link to the Past" manages to easy to learn, and still challenging enough to be fun.
Overall - "A Link to the Past is one of the best games made in the series. Zelda Historians will look to this game to create storylines and theories. Worth playing on the SNES or the GBA, every Zelda fan should play this at least once. Overall "A Link to the Past " gets:
