Review - By:The Real Link
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is by far one of the best if not the best game in the series. It came after five long years of waiting and is the first Zelda game to be in 3D. It was originally release on the 64 in 1998 but has since been re-released for the Game Cube in two bonus disks. One included the Master Quest, which had only been released in Japan. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest is almost the same as original only with harder dungeons. In 1998 when the game was originally released it became one of the fastest selling games and is currently the best selling game of the series.
Gameplay - The gameplay for this game is simply put unbelievable. It has so many things to do. Sure, you have to do the main things in the game to beat it, but there are also many other side quests. You can go fishing, play the many mini games and there are still all og those dungeons to beat and story to do. Being in 3D for the first time, this game has set the stage for all the 3D Zelda games that have come along since it. It brought in new elements such as Link being able jump side ways, back flip and so many others.
Graphics - When this game first came out the graphics were beyond anything ever seen before on the 64. The 3D environments are laid out beautifully. Even today compared to many of the other games of the 64 era you can see that this game is truly one of the best in the graphic department.
Music/Sound - The music of this game was a combination between some of the older songs from the past games and a collection of new songs by Nintendo music genius Koji Kondo. Notably absent is the Zelda Theme.
Plot - The plot is simple, save Hyrule from the evil Ganondorf. To do so you will have to travel from one time of Link's life to when he is a bit older. This game had more put into the story then most of the past games.
Difficulty - The original game was less difficult then the Master Quest. The difficulty of the original is about that of A Link to the Past.
Overall - What can I say? In my opinion, this game is the closest thing to total perfection in a game even today. Very few games out there have a certain magic that compels you to play on. This is one of them. This one gets a perfect score of:
