Boss Guide

This guide was written to be compatible with both versions.

Forest Temple Boss: Diababa
The first boss in the game is especially ugly. The battle starts with two small buds of the plant that look like large deku babas (hence the name). Equip your gale boomerang, and L-target one of the buds. Before you release, put one of the bomb bugs in the path of the boomerang. This method may take several tries. You can also achieve your goal by going into boomerang mode and locking the bomb and then the plant, however with this method you cannot avoid attacks. Once they are both dead, the real boss will appear. This time you will need to wait for a monkey to appear. He will swing across the screen with a bomb in his feet. Use the same method to dispose of the 2 buds again, and then of the main head. It will drop to the ground, exposing its eye. Jump attack it several times, and it will get back up and start attacking you again. Repeat the process and you will be presented with a chance to use the ending blow. Take it.

Goron Mines Boss: Fyrus
See that shiny gem on its forehead? That’s an eye. Shoot at it with arrows. After a hit, he will walk around in a stupor. Equip the iron boots, grab one of the broken chains and yank. It will fall with a crashing blow, but the gem on its forehead is within reach. Hack at it until it stands again, engulfed in flame. Repeat the process to take him out. It will cool down to reveal that it is actually Patriarch Darbus.

Lakebed Temple Boss: Morpheel
Equip your iron boots and zora armor. Once you hit bottom, Morpheel will reveal itself. Use your clawshot to grapple the eyeball out of the tentacles. Slash it with your sword, upon which it will return to the tentacles. If caught by one of the tentacles, un-equip your iron boots, or you’ll be sucked into its mouth repeatedly. After you’ve hacked up the eye a bit, Morpheel will reveal its full form. Start swimming and keep above and behind its head. I recommend doing it to the side a bit as well. Once in range, L-target its eye, which is now in the back of its neck. Use your clawshot to pull yourself onto its eye and stab away with your sword. After 4 blows he will throw you off. Repeat this 1 or 2 times for his defeat.

Arbiter’s Grounds Guardian: Stallord
This battle is long and somewhat hard. The battle will start when Zant awakens a giant skeleton (Stallord). Take off on your spinner around the walls of the arena. When you hear the spikey things coming bounce off towards Stallord’s spine. Each time you successfully hit his spine, more minions will form to defend it. 3 hits and he’s done for.
Or is he? Upon raising the center platform his skull will come alive. Start spinning around the center column. Bounce over to the outer wall when the spiked things come, then bounce back. Once you are high enough on the inner wall the skull will appear and start to shoot fireballs at you. Bounce back and forth between the inner and outer walls to avoid his attacks. After he misses about 3 times he will come right next to you to shoot his fireballs. Quickly bounce into him with your spinner and he will drop. Slash at it several times with your sword, and he will begin to hover again. Repeat this process a few times to defeat Stallord for good.

Snowpeak Ruins Demon: Blizzeta
The mirror shard has possessed Yeta. At the beginning she will form a giant ice barrier pod thing around herself. Hit her with the ball and chain as she moves/glides around until she is a normal size. Its not over yet though. Now she will form ice spikes around herself. She will drop them above you one-by-one, so roll to avoid them. After the last one drops, try to destroy one or two with the ball and chain. She will then gather the remaining Ice blocks to herself in a circle, and she will drop the circle all at once around you. Get out fast, because she’s coming down herself now. Remember those couple of ice spikes you destroyed earlier? Throw the ball and chain through the gap created by those at Yeta. She’ll regenerate the ice spikes again and you will have to repeat the process 2 more times for Yeta’s defeat.

Temple of Time Guardian: Armogohma
The battle begins in a room with statues in each corner that can’t move anything but their one arm. Take a glance upward to trigger Armogohma. She will begin by crawling around the ceiling to one of the four light spots. Once she stops, shoot her eye with your bow. She will drop to the ground near one of the statues. Quickly give life to the statue and swing your Dominion Rod again to make it pound the spider with its massive arm. It will crawl back onto the ceiling and lay some eggs for you. Get right in with them and start hacking away before they hatch. If they do hatch, they turn into those annoying little blue-bodied spiders. Repeat this process 2 more times and Armogohma will be defeated. Wait what? Its EYE is a SPIDER??? It will hatch a load of eggs and its eye will crawl around the room with them. Take it out with 3 well placed arrows to end this fight.

City in the Sky Terror: Argorok
Once you enter his lair/roof, you’ll need to go a bit farther. Grapple to the cage-wall on the opposite side of the pillar in front of the entrance. From there, look to the side and grapple to the vine-covered pillar and climb the vines to the top. When Argorok swoops down, use the clawshot to grab its tail, and equip your iron boots. It will crash to earth (well I guess you can call it earth as it has grass). Do this a few times and it will begin to rain, causing hover plants to sprout. Grapple up the pillars and then onto the plants. L-target the next plant in line and start to go around. Once the dragon stops spitting flames at you, target the crystal on its back and grapple. Stab away 4 times, upon which you will be thrown off. Repeat the process about 3 times to utterly destroy Argorok. Usurper King: Zant
This is a six-stage fight against the notorious Zant. You’ll be taken on a whirlwind tour of the boss rooms of Hyrule.

--Part 1: Forest Temple Boss Room
Zant is going to hover over the poisoned water to try to avoid your attacks. Toss your gale boomerang at himt to bring him to shore, and start hacking away at him. If he starts his rapid energy blasts, raise your shield until he stops.

--Part 2: Goron Mines Mini-Boss Room
Whip out your iron boots because you’ll need to hang on tight! Zant warps around the ledge and jumps up and down to try and knock you off the edge. Eventually he’ll stop and fire his energy blasts at you. Shield, and when he stops move in and take him out. Hint: Try charging Zant while he’s using his energy blasts. By the time he stops you should be within striking distance.

--Part 3: Lakebed Temple Boss Room
The third battle is going to look overwhelming at first, but it’s not. Equip your zora armor and iron boots, and have your double clawshots ready. The giant helmet isn’t the boss, it’s Zant, who happens to be hiding inside. Once he appears he’ll start firing at you, as usual. Just move around until he stops, then clawshot him when he stops to rest, because unlike Link, this weakling needs rest. Slash at him with your sword. After a few slices, 4 helmets will rise from the sand. He’ll appear in one of them and fire off a few rounds, but once he stops you can use your clawshot and finish him.

--Part 4: Forest Temple Mini-Boss Room
This is probably the easiest fight in the game. Zant will hop around on the poles, so go after him. Once he stops to fire at you, roll under his shots into his poll, and then roll into it again. He will fall, so give him a few solid slashes and he’ll get back up and jump around again. Knock him down and cut him up for victory.

--Part 5: Snowpeak Ruins Bedroom

Zant will increase his size to that of a titan. Get out your ball and chain and watch his reflection in the ice. Start moving around until he drops to avoid him. Now swing that ball and chain around and unleash it towards his feet. Believe it or not, that was his weak point. He’ll dance around the room in pain, shrinking all the while. Follow him around and once he stops shrinking, Slice at him till you can’t slice no more.

--Part 6: Just outside of Hyrule Castle
This battle is pretty much all using your shield. He will attack you 3 different ways, all of which are up and in your face, so all you can do is shield. Once he starts spinning around the arena, try to dodge him, but if you can’t you’re not at much of a loss. Once he stops spinning, he’ll try to catch his breath. That’s the time when you jump on his and start slicing away at his innards. Do this a couple more times and he’ll fall.

Final Boss: Ganondorf
This battle is a 3 parter, and the third part is very hard. You’ll be pitted against Ganon in his most treacherous forms, so read on to find out how to defeat him.

Part 1: Ganon’s Puppet—Zelda
Zelda has 3 attacks. The first of which is a diving thrust at you. Stand your ground until she’s nearly upon you, then leap to the side. Her second offensive is a giant golden triangle on the ground under your feet. Roll out of it before it reaches enough energy to hit you. The third attack you can do something about. She will charge up a ball of nergy and fire it at you. Stand a good distance away, and once the ball is just out of swords reach, swing it with all your might. It will launch it back at her, upon which she will slash it back at you. Continue the volley for a few rounds and it will hit Zelda. Do this 3 times to free her of Ganon’s control.

Part 2: Dark Beast—Ganon
Once his control over Zelda is disrupted, he will take on the form of a, well, a beast. The beast has 2 phases.

--Dark Beast Phase 1: You’ve seen those magic jewels before. Remember the mines? Once the beast charges at you, shoot the glowing thing on its head. If you get lucky you didn’t get hit when he slid at you. Move around to his underside and cut up the big white scar. Do this a few times and he’ll get wise to what your doing…

--Dark Beast Phase 2: Once he starts leaping into a portal when you fire at him you’ll need a different attack style. Switch into a sacred beast (who thought Zant could be good for something after all?) and wait. Once Ganon charges you, DON’T RUN. Hold your ground, and an indicator will appear at the bottom of the screen. Quickly press A and press left or right (depending on what the indicator….indicates) to throw him over on his side. Leap on him and bite at his scar, then repeat the process 1-2 times to defeat him. NOTE: You can do extra damage by switching back to human.

Dark Lord—Ganondorf
This battle has 2 phases as well. One when Ganondorf is on horseback, and then a final swordfight. This is the most awesome battle you will ever get in a Zelda game.

--Ganondorf phase 1: After Midna gets wasted by Ganondorf, you’ll be on Epona in Hyrule Field. Charge Ganon and do your best to get behind him. Target him, and Zelda will aim and fire a light arrow. If it hits, Ganondorf will be stunned, so speed up and slash at him. Do this a few times for victory. NOTE: When Ganon charges an energy ball, dodge between the undead soldiers that it forms into.

--Ganondorf phase 2: This battle is a straight up duel with Ganondorf. The basics to winning are paying attention and looking for openings. The back slice can yield good results when executed at the proper time. When he charges you, it will say “chance” at the bottom. Take it whenever your reflexes don’t fail you, and hit “a” repeatedly to stun him temporarily. Take this opportunity and get a few hits in.

Spoiler-Free ending: How does it end? You won’t find out on this website. You have the guides, go find out for yourself.
