Golden Bugs

All those creepy critters are getting the best of you, huh? Can’t figure out where that stupid buzzing is coming from? Well now there’s help. This guide has been designed for the Wii version of the game, so all those playing through on the Gamecube will have to reverse east and west.

Male and female bugs are never far apart. Never forget this if you can find one but not the other. Please note it is easier to see the bugs in the day time with your wolf senses.

“So why am I going bug catching?” you may wonder. Well in the back alleys of Castle town is a very decorated palace, owned by a small girl named Agitha. She wants you to go find all the golden bugs and bring them to her. For your first bug you’ll be rewarded with a Big Wallet, which holds 600 rupees. For each bug of any kind you collect, you’ll be rewarded with 100 rupees. If you find it’s mate, you’ll receive an additional 500 rupees. And, for collecting all 24 you’ll get……(drum roll)…….the Giant Wallet which holds 1,000 rupees!

1. Male Ant – Kakariko Village The male ant is in Kakariko graveyard. Move to the back of the graveyard on the ledge, and search the base of the tree on the right.

2. Female Ant – Kakariko Village On the west side of town is a deserted house. There will be a fallen board in the middle of the room, you’ll find your ant there.

3. Male Mantis – Lake Hylia This bug in on the inside of a stone arch at the northern end of the Great Bridge of Hylia. Use the Gale Bomerang to get it down if you need to.

4. Female Mantis – Lake Hylia Also near the Great Bridge of Hylia, you will find the female mantis high on one of the arches in the area. Use the Gale boomerang and give chase if needed.

5. Male Butterfly – Hyrule Field (Lanayru Province) Head south from the east entrance of Castle Town to a path. Near there is a patch of flowers in which you’ll find your butterfly.

6. Female Butterfly – Hyrule Field (Lanayru Province) Head east from the east entrance of castle town to a vine covered wall. Clawshot to reach the vines then climb to the top. You’ll find yourself on a ledge (obviously enough) near a patch of flowers. This is where you will find the female butterfly.

7. Male Phasmid – Hyrule Field (Eldin Province) On the arch at the south end on the Eldin bridge. Just use the Gale Boomerang and it should be a breeze. Haha.

8. Female Phasmid – Hyrule Field (Eldin Province) At the north end of the Eldin bridge you will find the female phasmid. It is on a rock wall to the north, so use the Gale Boomerang to get it down.

9. Male Dayfly – Gerudo Desert In the southern half of the desert, you will find a small gated alcove. It will be slightly to the northeast. If you can’t find it, try your wolf senses or wait until night.

10. Female Dayfly – Gerudo Desert The female dayfly is located south of the goblin camp, and west of the warp point. It will be in one of the trenches along the ground.

11. Male Stag Beetle – Hyrule Field (Lanayru Province) Heading out of Castle Town’s east entrance and taking the road north, you’ll find a tree to your right. The male stag beetle will be near this tree.

12. Female Stag Beetle – Hyrule Field (Lanayru Province) North of Hyrule Castle, head north of the river to a rocky part of the cliff. You will find a part that you can bomb to get into a small cave. It is above this rock that you will find the male stag’s mate.

16. Female Grasshopper – Hyrule Field (Eldin province) At night cross into the grassy region of Hyrule Field north of Kakariko. Gaze into the night to the northeast, and you should see a small golden bug jumping around.

17. Male Beetle – Hyrule Field (Faron Province) Near the center of Hyrule Field is a tree between 2 hills. The male beetle will be on this tree.

18. Female Beetle – Hyrule Field (Faron Province) On the western sid eof the field will be an inaccessible ledge. On this ledge there will be a tree, and on this tree will be bark…..and the female beetle. Use the Gale Boomerang to get her down.

19. Male Pill Bug – Kakariko Gorge Near the south end of the bridge leading over the Gorge, you’ll find the mae pill bug resting quietly in the grass.

20. Female Pill Bug – Kakariko Gorge At the western end of the gorge on the northern side will be a small glow. Pick it up to find it is in fact a pill bug.

21. Male Snail – Sacred Grove At the sacred grove entrance with the moving statue puzzle, you’ll find a small alcove to the southwest. Go in and look up to find the male snail clinging to the ceiling.

22. Female Snale – Temple of time Real simple. Enter the temple. It’s on the pillar in the southwest corner.

23. Male Dragonfly – Zora’s Domain You’ll find it in the waterfall basin. Swim to the southwest section and climb the hill to capture it in your bug retrieving hands…..or paws as the case may be.

24. Female Dragonfly – Zora’s River It flies around the the bottom of Iza’s boat rental cabin. The simplest way to get this bug is the the Gale Boomerang.

That’s it. Go claim that thousand rupee pouch that you deserve, and the oodles of cash that go along with it.
