The Fifth Annual Golden Item Awards!
- February 01 2009 -

Site and Zelda updates may have been absent of late but I hope you didn't think we would forget about this. It's February 1st and that means it's nomination time for Exploding Deku Nut's 2009 Golden Item Awards!

These awards are given annually by Exploding Deku Nut to Zelda sites that excel in uniqueness, design, aspiration, interactivity and for lifetime achievement. The Golden Item Awards are not vote based, so a site will not win by shear influx of votes. Rather the nomination process draws my attention to sites that I may miss in my own rounds of evaluation.

The award categories are:

The Golden Deku Nut for Most Unique Site
The Golden Bomb Plant for Most Stunning Site
The Golden Ocarina for Most Aspiring Site
The Golden Light Arrow for Most Lively Forums
and The Golden Mirror Shield for Lifetime Achievement

To nominate a Zelda site please fill out the form found here: http://www.explodingdekunut.net/interactive/giamain.html

You may nominate any Zelda site, including past winners, for any number of awards. You may also nominate as many sites as you wish. You can also check out the previous winners in each of the categories.

Nominations close February 28th and the winners will be announced on March 1st.

Good luck everybody! Now send those nominations. :D

Happy New Year!
- January 05 2009 -

Yeah I know it's 5 days old, but better late than never right?

Well as many of you may have gather from our anniversary post, we'll be going through a lot of change this year, trying to bring EDN back to it's roots.

So what better way to start then by a complete forum overhaul? If you've been a frequent forum vistor, you'll notice the old phpBB2 boards are gone in favor of the much more stylish phpBB3 boards.

If you haven't already, please update your bookmarks to this link: http://www.explodingdekunut.net/forum/index.php

More to come soon, hopefully. laughing

Leever!? I 'ardly know 'er!!
- December 25 2008 -

Merry Christmas, denizens of EDN! On this most festive of holidays, I've prepared for you a gift that even the staff didn't know about. I hereby present to you a new Accidentally Linked strip, and I've even taken the liberty of recycling (ripping off) the traditional frame to give it a most authentic feel.

Accidentally Linked: DeeSee's Rude Awakening

Enjoy, and have a merry end to your Christmas. laughing

Hero of Time Press Release
- December 08 2008 -

BMB Finishes a film production company has released a new trailer and
launched a website for the feature length film, "The Hero of Time".
"The Hero of Time" fan film is based on the quintessential adventure
game we all grew up playing and love. The film is complete and will
be released after Dec 2008.

BMB Finishes is based in Atlanta GA USA. The mastermind and creative
force behind the film is young Director Joel Musch. His love for the game
and animation skills were put to work in 2005 when the project began.
The film itself is a whirlwind adventure certain to be a cult classic
for any gaming fan. For more information please visit the site at
www.theherooftime.com or e-mail hannahfierman@gmail.com.

I've you haven't seen the trailer yet, I would suggest you check it out. The Hero of Time has been one of the more impressive fan films attempted over the years. As far as release dates go, nothing more has been stated other than "2009". At least it's more substantial than the next Zelda release.

See what I did there? Yeah that's still a sore spot, Nintendo angry

The Music of Zelda
- November 27 2008 -

So, this is an idea I've had for a while now: Zelda music on EDN. Now, not a load of songs, this isn't intended to be a clone of ZREO, just something to add a little more to EDN.
Anyway, a few months back I began to try to arrange a long Zelda medley, which was scrapped because it was garbage. However, recently, I've succeeded in arranging three pieces that I enjoy, and believe you will, too.

In order of composition:
Themes from the Lost Woods
Serenade of Water
Dark Overworld - Jazz Edition

Enjoy.
