Six Years... |
 |
| - November 25 2008 - |
I know this is a poor excuse for an update, but it has been brought to my attention that Exploding Deku Nut turns 6 years old today! I would like to thank everyone for supporting us for so long, despite our extended absences.
Speaking of which, I did have a few things planned for the anniversary, but University is quite the *Navi* in fourth year. It's tempting to blame school once again for lack of new material, however it is not the sole reason for not updating.
Let me explain, over the last few years I've attempted to make this site a "jack of all trades" Zelda site. This included the addition of an image gallery, the rapid hiring of staff to fill the ZGames section, and adding a fan things section. Certainly this expanded the range of content we could update, but it made the site...less fun to work on.
When I started Exploding Deku Nut I didn't do it just to create a large Zelda site. Nor did I even care for EDN to be "a quintessential Zelda site" I created EDN because I enjoyed the Legend of Zelda series, because I enjoyed writing Zelda humor, because working on this site was fun.
Six years have passed since then, and the absence of updates have not been solely due to lack of time, but lack of interest. I felt the need to fill these new sections instead of writing a new satire or drawing a new comic. Hiring staff helped somewhat, but these sections were always a burden and never really enjoyable. Exploding Deku Nut changed in six years, and it became something I resented doing, where updates occurred just for the sake of updating.
In the last six years I've also changed. I am no longer a High School freshman who had just discovered Dreamweaver. I've reached a point in my life where I don't have as much time to update as I used to.
This left me with my only two options. I could close Exploding Deku Nut for good, letting it fade into obscurity.
Or I could change the site and spend my time adding content I enjoy doing.
I'm choosing to do the latter. This winter, if all goes well, you'll see Exploding Deku Nut return to it's roots. I don't have a hard date set, but the goal for this restructuring is December 2008 - January 2009.
I'm not promising that these changes will usher in a new Renaissance for EDN. But at the very least, it'll make the site something I want to update once again; and honestly it's that or close the whole thing down. With the state of the Zelda community as it is, I figure it's best to have one more site stick around.
So thanks again to everyone who has supported us over the years. We've changed a lot and we're changing some more, hopefully for the better. |

Life and Times of Hyrule -This is Your Life! Pt. 2 |
 |
| - October 15 2008 - |
It certainly has been a long time since there's been an update. Now to be sure I was supposed to have posted this article a few weeks back but never got around to it. Oh well, it's here now. In the second, and likely last, of the very short articles of 'This is Your Life!', I talk about our very favourite villain, Vaati. Although there were all kinds of other villains to talk about, I personally felt like he took top spot from the rest. Looking through his very short life, Vaati is perhaps more interesting in his antics and biography than any other (save for Majora I suppose). Although I could have talked about several other things dealing with the Wind Sorcerer, I mainly covered the important parts. Enjoy! This is Your Life! Part 2 |

A new hope |
 |
| - September 18 2008 - |
So, just saw this on kotaku. This year Nintendo will be (though they usually don't) attending the tokyo gaming convention. This wasn't expected, and in Nintendo's own words, they will be "unveiling new products" which hopefully means games. And even more hopefully, a new zelda, or at least something for the core group at Nintendo. Soooo, everyone, cross your fingers, and hope that just maybe on October 4th, the day of the convention, we might actually get somethin from Nintendo worth getting excited about.

Life and Times of Hyrule - This is Your Life! Pt. 1 |
 |
| - September 01 2008 - |
Here we are on Labour Day and I'm bringing you the spoils of my hard work and toil, a new article in The Life and Times of Hyrule. This is Your Life! Pt. 1 is the newest addition to the collection and features a small history on your favourite villain Ganondorf. However, the history isn't the most important part. That title goes to the point of the article, and its sequel in a week or so, of the Deaths of Link's main foes. This is another article inspired by my reading of posts on other forums I've browsed in my spare time, and these act as my responses in the most basic sense. So make sure all you readers have a gander and see if you want to take a crack at the original version of the inspiration post. This may not be like the previous one in...your adjective of choice, but it should provide something worth your time nonetheless. Enjoy! This is Your Life! Pt. 1 |

Life and Times of Hyrule - Bloody Ties |
 |
| - August 18 2008 - |
Finally after a month and fifteen days I have brought you all the next installment of the Life and Times of Hyrule articles. In Bloody Ties, I expand upon the previous article, Sword and Shield, by covering some theories and some pieces of evidence that allow me to make certain claims about the blood ties and lines in the Zelda series. For those that are wondering, no, it's not all of them, specifically I'm still in the realm of the Wind Waker. So make sure that all you readers check out the newest article and hopefully this time the next one will show up much much sooner! Enjoy Bloody Ties. Bloody TiesI'd also like to give out thanks to Last Hylian who gave me enough inspiration to write this article back when it should have been released, as well as giving great insight and discussions about the first half of Bloody Ties. |
