"Zelda Capital has a very unique layout, and a HUGE amount of content. Their updates are plentiful, and their staff is sincere. This makes Zelda Capital my choice for most Aspiring Zelda site in 2008."

- FireGS, Webmaster of Zelda Reorchestrated -

In the years I’ve been doing these awards, people have always asked me how I choose the winners for the Golden Ocarina. Unlike the Golden Deku Nut or the Golden Bomb Plant, the choice may not always be expected, as evidenced by last year’s winner.

The answer is simple. In a day an age where Zelda sites come and go, I’m looking for a site that is dedicated to sticking around; a young site that is constantly adding content and improving itself. A site that if focused on becoming a well known and respected member of the Zelda community.

This year Zelda Capital is that site.

Just a quick glance can tell you the amount of work and time that has been put into the site.

The staff at Zelda Capital have clearly been hard at work, making their website the best it can be. For example take the game pages, each one containing a lengthy overview, back story, manual scans, a game quiz, and even video guides. Video Guides! That’s a rather incredible feature for a young site right there.

But the website has so much more, one of the main focuses being the Library, a section showcasing Zelda theories and articles written by the staff. These articles explore topics ranging from the Imprisoning War to the Multiple Link theory. From the various verses in the Book of Mudora to general “Did you know?” facts. The number of articles is extensive and doesn’t look like it’ll be stopping anytime soon.

There are so many other things I could mention. The large midi and mp3 library, sheet music, Zelda fonts, the official Zelda comics, sprites, 3D models and on and on the list goes. The staff is clearly working to make Zelda Capital a well known Zelda site with loads of content. There are some older sites out there that don’t have half as much content as these guys do. While they still have a lot of content to cover, these seem like they are guys are up to the challenge.

Therefore is it my pleasure to award this year’s Golden Ocarina for Most Aspiring Site to Zelda Capital. Congratulations to The King of Hyrule and 56k_Warning and the best of luck in the years to come.
