"ZREO is an awesome project that really shows the passion of Zelda fans - not to mention how emotive Koji Kondo's works are. You know a site is special when it closes down for like a year, rebrands itself a few times and still has a massive following. ZREO has a following similar to that of Hyrule.com.ar or The Dessert Colossus, hardcore fans. Which is simply because of the content they produce."
- Archaic Sage, Webmaster of Rauru's Return -
Imagine for a second there was a site out there solely dedicated to Zelda music. A site that brought your favorite Zelda songs from the land of the midi and into the world of the orchestra. A site that was so magical, you would feel the magical magicalness of it the moment you entered it's magical main page.
That magical site exists and it's called Zelda Reorchestrated.
The history of Zelda Reorchestrated goes way back to it's first incarnation as Project Z.R.E.O. It quickly gained attention in the Zelda Community, becoming the 2005 Golden Deku Nut recepient. Unforuntately funding issues immerged, and the site was forced to shut down. It returned sometime later as Zelda Music, but was plagued by the same problems and it too eventually shut down.
Now it's back, and bigger than ever.
The goal of Project Z.R.E.O. was to reorchestrate the entire soundtrack of Ocarina of Time. Since then they have added other soundtracks to their agenda, releasing songs at a regular basis.
However one of their newest and most interesting sections is their "project" section. These projects consist of unique musical soundtracks, many which are designed to make the listener feel as if they were standing in Hyrule itself. Take for example their Soundscapes soundtrack, combining classic Zelda music with additional enviromental sounds. One could imagine listening to the waves of Lake Hylia, walking amongst the hustle and bustle of Hyrule Market,.or opening the massive doors of Hyrule Castle.
While Soundscapes is the only one of their projects released, many future ones look promising. Including: Soundscapes Vol 2, the Field Suite, which features a reorchestration of every single overworld theme, and Battlescapes, throwing the listener into the middle of Hyrule's darkest and fiercest battles.
In addition to these projects, Zelda Reorchestrated is looking to relaunch the popular World Zelda Music Radio a feature returning from their days as Zelda Music. The Radio consists of periodic shows as well as music from both the site and the official soundracks.
With these projects and the launch of WZMR, Zelda Reorchestrated is becoming one of the more prominant Zelda sites of 2007.
Therefore, it is my pleasure to award our first, two time winner of the Golden Deku Nut for Most Unique Site to Zelda Reorchistrated. Congratulations to FireGS and the staff of Zelda Reorchestrated, and best of luck in the years to come.
